Intraoperative Electron Radiation Therapy, or IOeRT, is a treatment option recently adapted to breast care.  Patients who qualify for IOeRT can receive a boost of radiation while in the operating room.  This boost is applied directly to the tumor bed following the removal of the breast cancer and decreases the amount of radiation therapy needed following surgery.

IOeRT is delivered through the Mobetron, a mobile linear accelerator produced by the IntraOp Medical Corporation.
